Toybaru 86 Eligible for CC?

Postby Martin » Sat Dec 08, 2012 6:33 am

Just checking. Its a Toyota, but every panel is stamped Subaru, and the engine is a boxer. Just misses a turbo, and some front wheel drive...or does it? :o

I don't see why not, Martin. Under the Personal Best system it really doesn't matter what car you run as it's all about improving your own times.

As a development vehicle the Toyabaru will raise a few questions if there were some.... "dramatic" changes to the drivetrain mid season? This would be up for debate at the time, in a similar way to if someone changed vehicles.

But the whole reason for the change from the handicap system was exactly this point - the car itself is irrelevant.

Lee, as motorsport co-ordinator what are your thoughts?

The Impreza WRX Owners Club of South Australia is a club for motoring enthusiasts with a passion for performance cars. Our focus is on performance oriented All-Wheel Drive Subaru vehicles, including the Impreza WRX, STi, Liberty RS, Liberty B4 and Forester GT. Membership is also considered from owners of other vehicles.

We have accepted other cars before such as Golf and Swift Gti's. As for running for the club championship trophy, is usually up to the motorsport director to determine whether you be eligible or associate.

Oh and you would have to replace the Toyota badge with a Subaru badge.

as motorsport co ordinator, under the voted on personal best system, i don't have any problem with allowing any vehicle to run in the club championship, drastic changes to vehicle mid season would be up for vote as to weather your pb is reset or continued on. As Matt said our system has made the vehicle of choice irrelevant.

We've let Evo's compete in the past....at least this one is half Subaru!!!

It would be interesting to see how it competes with the rexies though. Better handling but less power and no 4wd? I'm keen to see how the various models of rex compare on the same track on the same day. :?:

Its actually 100% Subaru apart from the badges :)
Every single panel is stamped Subaru on the car, which I found quite surprising!
