S&J Club Championship Round 3 – Mount Alma

2015 S&J Automotive Club Championship – Rnd 3 – Mount Alma Hillclimb

Well done Garry Dodd for his best personal best time of 46.43 seconds! This is also a new club member record!

There were some close battles with Mark gardiner pulling off a best last run pass to take Remo by point of a second!! Tania Langcake did well to make the standard 2L GC8 match the times of her ’06 2.L from last year. Jason Bartsch and Damien Hirst were both right behind Garry with 46 sec runs. Remo Silicano showed strong potential with the fastest speed trap time of 143km/h and a 47 sec run on his very first time at Alma. Richard Paul had the best launches of the day, consistently running great speed trap times but was not able to better his Personal Best, probably due to the weight of his new full roll cage.

In all it was a great weekend, good to see a few new members give it a good go. While it is a long wait til next year’s Alma, it is only a couple of weeks until the next club Championship round; Ozgymkhana!

2015 S&J AUTOMOTIVE Club Championship – Rnd 1 – OzGymkhana

Damien Brand takes the win at the first round of OzGymkhana 2015

WRXSA had an extremely strong showing at the first round of OzGymkhana 2015 with 8 drivers competing.

Damien Brand won 1st outright in the shootout!
Seth Coultas won Modified Class
Jason Bartsch won Standard Class
and there were 4 WRXSA members in the top 8.

These results have placed WRXSA first in the 2015 Gymkhana Club Challenge, a position we are all hoping to keep until the end of the year!

WRXSA Coastal Cruise

Last weekend WRXSA had their annual coastal cruise. As always it was a popular family outing, starting from Outer Harbour and cruising south down to Sellicks Beach via the esplanade wherever possible.

Not everyone braved the beach at the end, but those that did had a ball and raised a few eyebrows at the same time.

A good start to 2015 for Subaru in Rally America

The new 2015 WRX STI made a perfect Rally America National Championship debut at the Sno*Drift Rally, with Subaru Rally Team USA driver David Higgins winning all 17 stages on his way to a dominating victory. The defending Rally America Champion Higgins, with co-driver Craig Drew, overcame the Sno*Drift Rally’s treacherous snow and ice covered roads with aplomb, running trouble free and full of confidence by the performance characteristics of the new 2015 WRX STI rally car prepared by Subaru technical partner Vermont SportsCar.
